Northlane started with a folded paper atlas, a highlighter, and too many wrong turns.
We are a small team of map makers and long-distance drivers. Between us we have logged hundreds of thousands of miles on American back roads, from the Florida Keys to the Dalton Highway.
We noticed the same thing again and again: great routes were hidden behind generic navigation. Apps optimize for speed. People on a road trip want the opposite, the slower road, the right overlook at the right hour, and a plan that still works when a pass closes.
So we build that plan. Every route we deliver is researched against current road and park information, and every GPX track is checked before it leaves the studio.
How we work
- One planner stays with your project from first call to departure.
- We use open map data and official sources: NPS, state DOTs, and USFS.
- We never sell your data. No trackers on this site, either.
